Mindy's Memory Rescues Three Rhesus Macaques!

Linda was contacted recently regarding the placement of three Rhesus Macaques. Luckily, the Sanctuary had several openings available.

                           Olive and Pickles

Photobucket Two females, Olive and Pickles were scheduled to be released from a research facility on the East Coast, if a facility could be found. After much planning, many emails and phone calls, the girls arrived via Continental Airlines.

Their arrival was late in the night, so they spent the night in their airline crates but were treated to some fruit, nuts and a big drink of water upon arrival at Mindy's. Early the next day, the girls were released into their new lock-out and saw the sunshine for the very first time. They also saw their new cage mate, Rudy, a male Rhesus who was previously released from research. Rudy had been lonely since his cage mate passed away in December.

Rudy is quite the ladies man and took to the girls right away making smacky faces and sitting very close to them with just cage wire in-between. He was even more excited when later that day we released them into the large enclosure. The girls and Rudy got along at once and we know that we had made a great match when we observed Rudy lying on his stomach with Olive grooming his head and Pickles grooming his feet and rubbing his back. All that seemed to be missing for Rudy was the tropical drink and a white sandy beach!

                                           Jeremy

JEREMY Jeremy was a pet monkey who formerly resided in Phoenix, AZ. Due to family problems, Jeremy needed a new home and via contact with the American Sanctuary Association, his owners found Mindy's.

Young Jeremy was placed with JK another young macaque. And within a few days they seem to like each other. Jeremy has a large enclosure with many high shelves which he is beginning to explore. He loves raisins, oranges and peanuts. He is very gentle taking his bananas and likes to call to his new friends as he is eating, as if saying how great the food and service is at his new home.
