Introduction

MONKEY FACTS

Here you will find links to information on the monkeys at our sanctuary, as well as a lot of information on monkeys in general. Monkeys make up the majority of the Primate Order and are a wonderfully diverse and interesting group.

Our Monkey Facts pages give a general overview of specific groups of monkeys as well as citations for current research on each group. As time goes on we hope to add a page for every type of monkey but, in the meantime, we do provide a page of current research info on monkeys that we have not yet done pages for, as well as research on monkeys in general. In time we may also add pages about the other two groups of primates - apes and prosimians.

Further down on this page you will also find information about Conservation Risk Status Ranks and the Organizations which determine a species' status, which will help you interpret this information on our facts pages, or in the news. Finally, we have provided a short overview of some potential Health Risks of (and from) nonhuman primates.

Mindy's Memory Primate Sanctuary is providing this information as a public service to primate caregivers and anyone else interested in learning more about primates. These pages are periodically updated as more information becomes available, so stop back often. If you find these pages informative and helpful, please consider making a donation to our sanctuary, so that we may continue to help monkeys in need.
